Puketutu Leachate Riser

This project entailed the extension of a double skinned reinforced concrete leachate riser working within the Puketutu Island backfill operation. The riser has a double skin of two reinforced concrete precast manhole risers with the gap between them grouted in place. The risers have an HDPE liner internally and an epoxy coating externally and have associated steel pipe work, ladders and landings.

Oxcon CLL installed 5.8m vertical extension to the riser to prepare it for the next lift of backfill. This was completed within the potentially explosive atmospheric conditions within the fill zone and required careful management of these risks and also confined space management.  

The works were safely delivered in just under two weeks.
